These are some of our most impactful accomplishments achieved during my second term, demonstrating a persistent commitment to infrastructure improvement, public safety, economic development, social support, and community advancement.
$8 Million Housing Repair Investment
Expanded the LandBank Authority and directed $8 million toward housing repairs to prevent displacement and maintain community ties.
$15.8 Million Police Recruitment & Retention Plan
Approved a comprehensive plan to recruit and retain officers, ensuring adequate law enforcement presence and responsiveness.
Guaranteed Income for Single Mothers (Embrace Mothers Initiative)
110 single mothers received $375 per month for a year to help with childcare, bills, and essentials—enabling them to pursue education, employment, and family goals.
Crime & Mental Health Intervention Initiatives
Key Investments:
$8M/year for gun violence prevention, re-entry programs, and mental health services.
$2.4M RESTORE program for at-risk youth.
$4.2M federal grant for Real Time Crime Center.
Mental health curriculum and counseling partnerships in schools and the community.
Future Forward Small Business Grant Program
Partnered with the Penny Foundation to award grants to eight District 6 businesses, promoting entrepreneurship and economic growth.
Homeless Services: HEART & Home For All Programs
Launched the HEART team for direct engagement and emergency services and approved nearly $2.7 million for the Home For All pilot, creating up to 75 micro-shelters with counseling and recovery services.
STEM Education & Academic Support
Established a STEM lab at Washington K-8, partnered with Better Basics to deliver math and science support, and created programs like YouthSpeak and back-to-school giveaways.
Infrastructure Improvements
Annually approved funds for key infrastructure upgrades:
$15M for street paving
$1M for sidewalks
$500K for traffic calming
Additional funds for weed abatement, demolition, and recreation center renovations
$10.3 Million Economic Development Incentives
Supported and approved economic incentives to attract and support development initiatives in District 6 and the wider community.

Partnered with UAB CORD to bring science and math tutors and additional resources to Washington K-8 and Hemphill Elementary
Gave away school supplies at Washington K-8 and Hemphill Elementary Schools
MLK Project 2020: Clean D6 Schools with CMS (Christian Service Mission) and Dawson Memorial Baptist Church
Housing
2019-2021: Partnering with Navigate to demolish and plan housing for the North Titusville Community (demolishing 5th Court apartments behind Titusville Library)
2020-2021: 2nd Phase of The Villas At Titusville
Beautification (Demolition, Parks)
Demolishing the Center St apartments by the railroad tracks in South Titusville
Partnering with Park and Recreation and West End Arlington Neighborhood Association to renovate and install new equipment at Woodward Park (construction starts in 2021)
Partnering with the Neighborhood Associations, 95.7 and 98.7 and 94.9 radio stations, and Rotaract Club of Birmingham to host community clean-ups throughout the district
